About the Organization

For The People (FTP) is a think tank dedicated to fostering democratic debate, social justice, and progressive policy development. The main axes of our activity are: skills, inspiration, and ideas. Based in Brussels and affiliated with the European Left Alliance for the People and the Planet, this new European foundation is committed to leading intellectual research and popular education across the continent.

Position Overview: Programme and Communication Officer

The Programme and Communication Officer of FTP will play a central role in building FTP’s platform, organizing events, and strengthening cooperation among FTP member organizations.

This role involves ensuring the successful organization of FTP events and activities, coordinating strategic activities among member organizations. Responsibilities include supporting the organising of national FTP events, support any thematic policy work and help organize statutory meetings such as the FTP Board meetings and General Assembly.

On the communications side, the officer will be responsible for developing and implementing an internal and external communications strategy. This includes managing FTP website, creating compelling content, and ensuring coherent and consistent messaging.

The Programme and Communication Officer will work closely with the Coordinator, as well as with the other members of the Executive (Co-Directors, Treasurer) to implement the direction set by the Board and General Assembly.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Support

  • Lead the planning and delivery of FTP projects and activities as mandated by the General Assembly and Board.
  • Organize high-impact events, conferences and workshops and thematic events across Europe, as well as statutory meetings (Board & GA)
  • Act as a primary resource for national member organizations, providing the logistical and strategic support needed to execute local FTP events.
  • Collaborate with the Co-Directors and Coordinator to draft documentation and prepare briefing materials for internal decision-making and prepare internal meetings, including Board meetings and General Assemblies.

Communications

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with FTP’s goals.
  • Oversee FTP’s digital ecosystem, including the website, and any other relevant channels identified by the members.
  • Produce high-quality, persuasive content for newsletters, press releases, social media, and policy reports.
  • Build and maintain a network of media contacts and journalists to increase FTP’s visibility in the European public sphere.

Qualifications and Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant educational background, but special consideration will be given to individuals with strong professional and movement-based experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with NGOs, grassroots movements, or civil society organizations. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an international and intercultural environment.
  • High proficiency in English; knowledge of additional European languages is an asset.
